Great book for Patton buffs. Morningstar gets into the details with lots of interesting facts regarding Patton that I have not seen in other books. I think the book is a little inconsistent and repetitive, but overall very interesting.

It was a gift for my dad, he loved it
Have bought copies as gifts for the history buffs in my family. Highly recommend this book by James Kelly Morningstar.
Never mind the Bill O'Reilly version, this book, by its very nature and subject, gets to the absolute core of this remarkable and controversial historic figure. Understanding how and why he thought the way he thought about combat, less the theatrics, is the essence of the man. The rest I gladly leave to the psychiatrists.
It may be of interest to know James Kelly Morningstar was awarded his Doctorate in History in June 2018 and is now "Doctor" Morningstar!
This is a very impressive piece of work. Of the books on Patton to this point that I have read, this is the very best at describing HOW and WHY he won his battles. With other works, usually biographies, one gets a flavor of his success, a taste, but this is the eight-course meal and it's very fulfilling. It echoes but also elaborates in great detail points made in the previous books and speaks of what Patton actually and literally did as a winning general, and by leaving out much of the biography of the man, and the eccentricity, this book shows how powerfully intellectual Patton was. He was almost obsessively devoted to war, other books make clear This book shows a man obsessed with learning his craft. I've been waiting for this book for 20 years. It's really worthwhile.
A brilliant book that describes the origins of the AirLand Battle and how Patton created the revolution. Must read for future combat leaders
This is a book on how G.Patton Jr. developed his idea on how to use an army to fight. It also compares
these ideas to how the US Army's want all battles to be fought. There is a great difference between the two is also polar opposite. If you want to know how fighting in war works this is the best book to read.
